The Poor Mans Non-sequential

awesome write up, but i have 2 questions, also related to the write up here: http://www.robrobinette.com/how_to_eng_oth...l%20Turbo%20Mod
1. the "static/ambient" state of the precontrol system is such that it does not need to be wired in position, correct?
2. rob robinette's site didn't say anything about pulling the pressure tank, or the turbo control actuator (just disconnecting the arm), do i have to do these? i'm trying to remove as little as possible.
thank you.

you guys...
...
ARE ALL ******* INSANE.
15 min job?! it took me at least an hour to get the turbo control actuator done, and i didn't even get it off, since there is this thing in the way... what is it called... oh, subframe. yeh, right in the way. and then there is this little shield thing over the actuator... must be protecting the actuator from... the subframe? lol.
every damn hose on my car is welded in place in less than 20k mi. you must have some tiny hands. the intake pipe for the secondary turbo... impossible to get off. in the bottom, there is a huge DP, and on top of it we have firewall. so all those hoses on the y-pipe area were fun.
i didn't touch anything around the UIM, i just shut my HD valve for the PCA, so that should stop that. the PCS can be shut off from the PFC.
anyway, i'll be back with whether it works or not later.

Why were you trying to remove the secondary outlet pipe? Anyway you should take off the down pipe to get to that one as you found out.

Hi I`ve just done my vacuum hose replacement and I`m still having boost issues so I want to try this mod and see if that will help, plus it would be nice to have more predictable boost characteristics.
My question is, I am running an old style Apexi AVC-R will that make any difference to the way I have to do this mod? It was fitted when I got the car so I`m not sure exactly what was put where.

I don't think that you will need the wastegate solonoid because the AVCR should replace that with some stepper motor or something similar. Other than that it should be about the same.

Thank God for laptops and wireless internet.
I had the laptop sitting right next to me with every picture opened up in its own window, as I did the Poor Man's Non-Sequential setup.
Step 3 confused me a bit, and the picture wasn't helping. After I did everything else, and revved it up at idle, it wasn't building any boost. Then I was like "Errr..that waste-gate looking thing is probably the "Y" pipe assmebly he was talking about. So I disconnected the lines coming off of it, and stuffed each end coming off of it and the LIM with screws"
So I tried that..and SHAZZAM! It worked!
I get a solid 8psi in every gear now.
It IS however overboosting in 1st gear when I first start the car up. After a minute or two of driving, it stops. It will also overboost badly if I downshift from 5th to 4th on the highway. If I go from 5th to 4th to 3rd and then WOT, it won't overboost.
Is 8psi normal after doing the setup? Any ideas on the overboosting issue?

I replied in the other thread but again make certain that you have a boost controller in place and also that the driverside lower nipple on the wastegate acctuator must be capped.
Ok pics worth a million words.
Blue line here runs to the "in" side of your boost controller. The black line getts capped off.
https://www.nopistons.com/forums/index.php?...pe=post&id=8097
Then run a line from the "out" side of your boost controller down to this nipple (where blue hose attaches) to the wastegate actuator. The cap the other nipple on the wastegate actuator.

That should cure your problem.

Isn't that what a printer is for?
