OK almost all responses you got were right on the money. Have to nit-pick a couple of things though. Series V are more rare but there are always exceptions to any rule. How about an '88 Anniversary edition turbo? Only 1500 made; last year of series IV so nicest of them; all leather interior; has same newer side mirrors and same nicer looking monochromatic paint scheme as series V. Also I've read that starting with 1989 series V they all have automatic retractable seat belts which I hate with a passion! (Is this true guys?) The Anniversary Turbo does not. Yeah! One word of caution - they are available in any color you want as long as that color is white with a black leather interior. Call me biased since I've had one for 8 years and am in process of buying a second one, but I love this car. Or e-mail me! I'm selling my current one to buy the other! Happy hunting!
also, i don't think the 88 10thAE comes with the series 5 mirrors.
the main aesthetic differences between the series 4 and 5 T2's are all 89-91's came with the spoiler, different molding, different nose and read bumper, AND side skirts. no 86-88 T2 came with side skirts. some series 5 also came with a lower lip in front, and they all had the round tail lights...here's a pic of mine

Also, new and more aerodynamic side view mirrors, which had that hole between the mirror and body, yet had much more beautiful flowing lines and they extended farther from the body than previous models, this also helped cure blind spots in the previous model RX-7's. The spoiler was once again standard on all models.
. Outside, new alloys were applied to the coupe models. The non-turbo models had a 15" quasi-five spoke similar to the later 3rd generation RX-7 wheels

Did only the 89-92 cars come with the mirrors w/ holes in them? And what abou the rims, 15" quasi spoke?
Cuz my car has both and its 88'.

yes. all the 89-92 FC's came with the aero mirrors (except in japan, europe, and aussie)...the T2's came with 16 inch mesh spoke rims, the verts came with 15 inch bbs wheels, the 89-90 GTU and GXL came with semi 5-spoke/10spoke 15's, and the 89-91 n/a's came with 5 spoke 15's. the 89-90 GTUs came with the T2 16' mesh wheels...
i don't "think" the 88's came with any of those features (like the aero mirrors)...but who knows...the 88 GTU is sorta like the 89-90 GTUs...so there's always an exception

Hey again,
Erik and all. Very nice looking red '91. You should be proud! I didn't mean to imply that there were ever any problems with the automatic seatbelts. I have never heard anything like that. I merely meant I simply do not like them. I can remember to put my seat belt on all the time and don't need the government to make an auto manufacturer put them on so that I don't forget! I'm not sure what you mean exactly by the series V mirror. All I know is that I have had an '88 Anniversary turbo for 8 years and the mirrors have inside holes on them just like yours. Yours definitely has a different aero package. Air dam in front is different and sides may be a little bit also. Mine has the same rear wing as yours. Mine came with same 205_55_16s and all white "baloney slicer" wheels to match the rest of the car. Everything is white. I would take the car cover off and send you a picture but it wouldn't do it justice sitting in a dark garage! Happy rotaring!
