What Is A 91 N/a S5 Worth
#1
Hi, i have a 91 fc...n/a...5-speed, the body is in pretty good condition...interior is excellent, body has 144,000 on it and the motor is starting to go. The car has no sun roof, which I've been told is pretty rare...So i'm curious what you guys think it is worth, i'm probably going to be putting it up on ebay in a few days.

What do you mean engine starting to go? starting to go = gone
I'd pay no more than $500 if it was pretty damn clean all around, but more likely I'd offer $300 to someone selling that around here. Someone will probably give you a grand on ebay though, I don't know.

300 dollars? please dude...thats insulting
High mileage body in decent condition
Blown engine (you're kidding yourself if you think it's anything but blown, there's no halfway on things like this)
Good interior
Here's what I would tell a seller of a car of this sort:
"Well, new engine + labor will cost me at least $2000. If the engine were already working, I'd be willing to give you $2500 for this migh mileage, stock car. Subtract one from the other and bam, $500. Considering that there's bound to be other problems with the tranny, subframe, wiring, etc., I'll deduct another $200 for the time and money I'll have to dump into this to get it to good condition."
By comparison, I paid $2100 for my 88 GTU (the one that's sought after of S4's) with a 20k engine, upgraded suspension, upgraded exhaust, upgraded brakes, excellent interior, and decent body. Every accessory on my car works perfectly and all bushings and suspension has been recently replaced, down to the half-shafts. Hell, I even got 6 rims with tires, four of which were moderately used Kuhmo V700's.
Summation: A 91 n/a in the aforementioned condition is worth no more than $500 to me.
If the engine was in there, the car could be worth around $3000. But it's not, so it's not. Simple. Cut. Dry.
