What is the purpose of vacuum lines? Do they even have a purpose?

you mean you're not smarter than 30 odd bits of rubber?

most are easy, sometimes the diagram isnt good enough, and you have to go from point a (solenoid for example) to b (whatever valve)

no no no, all are mine are hooked up correctly as far as I know. Im actually waiting on my battery to charge so I can try to start it. But I mean, what part of the emissions do they affect. I don't understand why there is a line from the oil filler to the intake?

that line is for "crank case ventalation" well at least thats what it is on a piston motor, its incase you have blow by so the smoke or pressure can vent back into the intake,go back intot he engine,

venting it to the air would allow oil and gas vapors/smoke to excape which is environmentally unfreindly

lol. theres a bunch of different things.

there are vacuum lines from the top of the motor to the intake, so it can burn any gas/oil fumes.

theres a line to the fuel pressure regulator, so it can maintain a constant fuel pressure, relative to boost

there are 3 lines to the air control valve so it can put the air pump air to the exhaust ports, or back to the air cleaner

1 vacuum line for the boost/map/pressure sensor so the ecu knows the manifold pressure.

1 for the blow off

i think thats most of it
