Used Engine Swap Wont Start!
#1
Hey everyone. My friend just got an 88 rx and his engine was gone so we threw in another one. The new (used) engine was said to be runnin excellently. So we throw in the engine hook everything up (mostly) throw some oil in the throttle body and try to start her up. The engine has been sittin for about a year and was flushed out before it sat. Now when I try to start with a good boost she goes chooka chooka chooka prop prop prop chooka chooka...the prop is the engine starting and the chooka is the motor turning. So I tryed to keep on unflooding it and starting it but same thing over and over again just white smoke out the mufflers what the hell could be wrong. Also we havnt hooked up the air pump yet (it was accidently takin away with old parts gotta get it back) could this be the problem, I doubt it cause it trys to start but what do I know. Can neone tell me somethin Im doing wrong or maybe theres a trick to startin a engine thats been sittin. Please help anyone out there it would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think you can check compression b4 u put it in. In the book it says let engine warm up and everything but regardless I witnessed the engine running and everything it was taken out because a 20b was being put in. there was nothin at all wrong with it. this was last year.

sounds smart I probably should have done this. would an engine loose compression after sittin for a long time? I know it had compression when it was takin out, and also even though my friends engine had no compression it still started.
