he he he, thanks for the offers guys but I think I'll keep digging around here... Problem I'm having so far is that theres not a lot of RX-7's in san antonio... (go figure) but I'm still diggin.

as far as buying a core to rebuild... I thought about keeping mine when I buy a new one, I'd love the education, the spare parts when completed and the excuse to buy more tools; but I dont think the ol lady wants me to start another project. transmission might not sound too major of a project, but we both use the garage and I have two engines, a truck, and my RX-7 spends a lot of time in there as well, so I better just buy and swap.

**** yall! I might have just found a used turbo tranny for $95! I dunno if this'll help anyone but its no good to me. http://www.asapmotors.com/rx7-turbo-...ns-p-6920.html

PS

their site has a JDM "race" engine section... those ricers are so funny... and before you go runnin, theres no cosmo 20b's I already checked. (everythings faster when you say "race")

just to let you know about the auto-x question. It doesn't really matter what transmission you have in your car. As long as it isn't any special raceing gear trans know one will care. Just buy a used one and call it a day.

well, I did it the old fashioned way. grabbed my cell phone and a the yellow pages and went to town, alphabetical order style.

I found one for 350. with exchange, one 250. plus tax, one 275. no exchange. and let me be the first to tell you: "there are a lot of stinking junk yards in San Antonio! and most laugh when you say you're looking for another RX-7" (for the record, 4 transmissions:37 junk yards called)

not to bring up old threads or anything, but three of those junkyards who said they had my transmission were lying sacks of ****. I just drove 100 miles this weekend going from junkyard to junkyard on my only day off in 4 weeks and all of them (who said they had it on location) said "oops, its in austin." my house was 15 minutes from austin...

then my alternator went out when I went for a drive to clear my head. played follow the leader with a pack of sport bikes though. that was a blast.
