so I have an 89 GTU that has a transmission stuck in reverse. When the gear shifter is in the neutral position, the car will move in reverse. It will only select 1st or 2nd gear, and when I do that, it feels like the car is pushing against itself, trying to go in both directions at once. The only thing I can think of is that one of the bushings has broken and fallen into the forks, is there any way that any of you can think of to fish out bits without having to drop the transmission out of the car?

 

if it goes into 2 gears at once, you need to pull it apart.... SHOULD be an easy fix, its likely to be a roll pin
