As i took them off I looked into my exhaust ports and saw like some black **** in there kinda looks like black crystals that turn to dust.

I also noticed that the rotor faces are dirty.

They have like a black grime on them I looked inside before I put the motor in and I kind of cleaned off as much as I could.

What is this and what Could I do to get rid of that?

I am eliminating the EGR and it had some stuff that looked the same on the big hole of the EGR.

My mechanic told me it is carbon build up.

I heard somewhere that revving the **** out of it will eliminate the carbon? Does the ATF Trick take this stuff out.

The motor has been sitting for a while should I start it up doing the ATF Trick like put in the ATF then crank it for the first time?

take your manifold off and unbolt everything off it it... let it soak in simple green or any other mineral spiritz...

gasoline may even work.

Blocking off your OMP and running premix should reduce some of that too.. its cleaner for the housings as well as for the LIM.
