so getting a low profile tire is better than stock? So a 215/45-15 would be a good choice?

Not necessarily. You may get slightly more outright grip, but when you lose it it'll be far less progressive because you'll lack that bit of flex in the sidewall.

What class will you be running in? Running a 225 or wider tire may bump you up to the next class depending on what else is done to the car.
