Also, the automatic driveshaft doesnt work...the 5spd and auto driveshafts are different lengths. The T2 driveshafts have different offsets on the rear end to driveshaft flange too....its more work then you'd think....

< Try a good transmission shop. No need to go to the dealer for a tranny rebuild. I doubt they do it themselves anyhow, they probably send it to a transmission shop that they deal with, or they order a rebuild from Mazda and then send them yours after they swap it in.
I just went thru transmission hell..... Mazda no longer supplies transmissions, howeve the internal parts are still avalible. I found a good used supplier at RX7heaven.com out of Memphis Tenn.. dont use the Demon speed or Risingsun...got ripped off by them.... I had the dealer rebuild the used one I got and its working fine...I came in in good shape but I wanted new parts put in..... Total for used tranny was 500 delivered and 500 for new gears and bearings....cost hurt but it sure runs good,,,,,
