Smokes Like A Frieghttrain Sometimes
#1
Does anyone have an idea what might be my problem with my 87 FC? I thought it was the BAC, but there may be more than one problem. The car seems to run good for a while; (except for the idle) then suddenly it will have low power and can barely pull its self. It also begins to smoke good old blue oil smoke.
This seems to only happen (start running bad) below 3,000 - 3,500 RPM. A few times it seemed to clear up by keeping the Rpm’s up around 4,000 RPM for a couple of minutes, but most of the time I shut it off and after it cools completely it will start and run ok.
Thanks,

The rotary engine burns through leading plugs so fast that it's rarely necessary to clean them.
Just change them as the burn out, and clean the trailing plugs.
As a temporary measure, a can of “motor honey” or STP will reduce the oil consumption.
