Rx7 W/ Microtech
#1
Got a little issue When wiring the 4 trailing coils im using for ignition they have to be wired by the instrucution manual that comes with the microtech that they have to be fed a positive and the X4 ignition box provides the negative to fire. Now the problem is that after providing the positive the wire got really hot like if they are in short. Now i provided the positive on the same wire for all 4 coils. What could be going on here shouldnt the stock trailing coils work in this application?

Since no one gave a responce i emailed microtech and im going to put what they told me.
You can use any coil that is an individual coil you can use 4 trailing coils. you cannot however use a leading coil since it only has one input for both sparks.

So after talking with microtech, you still have a problem?
The coil primary should only see voltage during the charge cycle, which is only milliseconds long. Is this parameter adjustable with the microtech? I know it is with my Haltech. I believe excessively long charge times would cause the coils to get hot.
Okay, I re-read your post. I'm taking it you're flowing current full-time. Either a wiring fault or your ignitor/ignition box isn't doing right?

yeah they did what i ended up doing was running 4 trailing coils giving the 4 coils a constant 12V Swicthed. Now the microtech LT10s comes with a X4 ignition box to work in a direct fire application in other words the stock igniters are no longer used. The X4 box provides the Negative to fire the coil and let me tell you guys i was testing for spark and with cheap Discount Auto Parts Wires the spark was incredibly stronge. it arched a clean blue spark and was rather thick to boot. so far havent started the car but looking foward to it.
