so here i am, so close to going and forking a grand on a microtech ecu.... but alas i dont know which one will run with the s6 engine....

so i have heard the lt8 runs fine with them, but the lt-10s wont(they havnt given me a reason yet though). what i am wondering is

what are the main differences between the lt8 and the lt10s? does the lt10s have better specs? do they both run in fd's? so rumor has it only one of the ecus support the crank angle sensor, whilst the other only supports electronic dizzys...

should i not bother and go for a different ecu?

again thanks heaps for any info... im starting to minus the rage, plus the headache

are microtech best bang for buck? or should i be looking somewhere else?

Peace

I can understand your frustration. I felt the same way back a year or so ago when I was shopping for an ECU for my TII. Good information is not easy to find, and everyone has an opinion.

The most important thing, IMO, is to talk to a handful of people who have the same car as you do, and have the same ECU you're going to buy, set up and running perfectly. Ask them what it took to get the job done right.

I decided on Haltech. I haven't regretted it, although it was a little more money than I wanted to spend. If I had to do it all over again, I'd take a good hard look at Megasquirt, but I'm not sure they're fully up to speed yet on ignition control.

Ah just buy the AEM plug and play no wiring involved really just plug it in and get it tuned and you will be good to go!

ok i dont need to hear that

see the problem with the 3rd gen is it doesnt have enough simplicity... the wiring loom is a nightmare(to say the least)... and all its little emissions valves are garbage are wasted weight....

one of my mates has an fd that he attempted to deloom, 2 years later still isnt done

see so all of that junk has been thrown away, the loom is useless to me... all my rotary(when its running) is gunna have what is required to run the engine(safely and powerfully)

screw aircon, screw powersteer, ETC ETC ETC

this car will be a racecar, and it will run perfectly due to its simplicity

simple engine, simple wiring loom, decent tune, power to the floor

Peace

Yea if you like your software old and outdated like PONG.

AEM > Power FC

Back on topic. Here is another tuning option I stumbled on last night while looking for something for my bug.

They list a unit that works for 13b and 12a's. It is worth peeking at.

Ah ok so you wont be running the omp i take it then. But if you want a good ecu then go with a motec, or AEM race box they kick *** too.
