Random Starting Problems
It's not the starter if the starter is turning the engine over. It sounds to me like you're saying the starter is turning the engine over every time you turn the key, but the engine doesn't always fire and run. Please restate your question in an unambiguous form.

two separate peices: starter motor and starter soleniod. lets not get this guy confused. the ignition sends a small current to the starter solenoid through a small (~16 gauge) wire, which activates the magnetic solenoid. this solenoid then sends big voltage and current to the starter from a huge 8 gauge wire directly from the battery while also moving the starter motor gear in contact with the flywheel.
what i would do and have done:
1. take out your starter assembly (its only like two wires and two bolts, just be sure to mark where the wires go to, you dont want to fry your starter).
2. go to autozone, have the starter MOTOR tested and buy a new starter SOLENOID for your type of FC. the solenoid only costs like $25.
3. with the starter out, test the starter actuator wire that runs from the ignition buy trying to start the car with the starter out. do this a number of times and make sure the starter actuator wire is in good shape and isn't shorting out or corroded.
4. check and possibly replace the battery wire running from the battery to the starter. this might not be getting enough current to the solenoid.
