It has the wheels though and i think i can see the spot where the badge was, it looks like there is some glue there.



fc3sjunkie remember just cause he said he never beat on the car or took it above 6000 rpms doeesnt mean the previous didnt beat on it.

Good eye your right about the rims I didn't even look for that it was an 10th AE



Also you don't know this guy so therefore you can't really trust him.His son could of been beating on it and the previous owner.A compression test tells you alot just make sure you get one.Not only that but at a spot of your choice,he can easily have a buddy at a shop he knows lie for him about the numbers.I don't know where to get the things to do a compression check someone else would have to help you on that.

Before you get too attached to the 911, you might want to check some "cost of operation" prices. Standard 2.0 liter pistons have been hard to come by for ages. Currently, aftermarket slugs are over $3500 a set (that's over the counter). OEM is NLA. If your dad is worried about the 7, an early 911 will make him faint. The timing chain hardware alone is $1000 (cam sprokets, chain spockets, cam nuts, chain tensioners, spacers, shafts, wheels, oil lines, and upgraded tensioners). That doesn't include cams, rockers, or installation, just the parts required to keep the cams in time. When you finish a $10K rebuild on an early 911, you have a 130HP car. If you're going to get in over your head, do it with a collectable. I owned a 73. 72 and 73 were the absolute best of the early cars.

Yea, I decided last night that the 911 wasn't such a good idea, thanks to some friendly people on a 911 board. My list keeps changing, and i hate it! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png However, there's an '87 Turbo II, white (my fav. FC color), 46k original miles, one owner in Maryland (about 45 miles from me) for $7k. Sounds like a better deal than the one in South Carolina, simply because it's 10x easier for me to go to MD than SC. Also, the list has changed to look something like this:



FC

S14 Nissan 240SX

MkII Toyota MR2

E36 BMW 3 Series

Mazda Miata

If I were you I would take a trip out to both locations.



Is this your first car?The MR2 isn't a car for the enexperienced driver.



An fc is a great car to start off with.Stick with it.

Compression tester can be had at a Pep Boys or an Auto Zone. About 20-30 bucks. Just ask the guys at the counter, they "should" know.



Or check in your pops garage, he may have one. My father had one the whole time, and did not even bother to tell me.



7k for a TII seems VERY high. But what mods have been done engine wise, suspension, body kits. I would rather take a stock FC rather than one with modifications. One thing, it is just fun to work on it and spend your hard earned cash on mods. It is just more satisfying.



I would never buy a Porsche in my life. And only one reason....I would be labeled for having a small dick. Now in a FC, that is a different story.

The TII in Maryland is bone stock. As for the location, I don't know, just that it's 45 miles from my house in Manassas and has a "MD state inspection" I was (still am) iffy on that 7k price tag. But it's only 46k miles, and from the pics, appears to be in great condition. Here's the ad if you wanna check it out: White S4 TII

Sounds like a good idea to me. NADA and Blue Book say about $3k, but i'll go ahead and offer $5k.
