Hey guys,

baller: I'm aiming for 10's to be honest as I'm going for high power. As for drivetrain parts im on the same boat as mazdadrifter and gmon, lots of people say "oh this breaks at so and so hp". I'll take my chances. The trans will be a fresh rebuild and the axles, diff and driveshaft will remain stock. If one breaks i'll nispect it see if it failed simply due to it not being strong enough and we'll take it from there.

I do plan to blow the rear aqxles so i have some money set aside for some chromoly axles (about $600 for a set is the prices ive seen)

I'd also like to upgrade to the 4.3 rear but we'll see how it goes.

Also i work at a shop so installation and removal is free, basicallyu just use up my spare time so im not worried about that.

djgiantrobot: thanks for the link i'm definitely considering those they were on my "keep researching" list lol.

rowtareh: The KYB's i think are 5-way all the way around, i think its the Koni that are 4 and 8. I am really thinking of going with coilovers right off the bat since it would be easier then buying the kyb's then having to sell them as used. It'll probably come down to if i can find them at the right price

As for single exhaust....i like sticking with my duals, probably the only thing i'm actually keeping just for the look. Ive heard things about the rb duals being a problem in high boost applications, and if it does become a problem ill swap to a full 4" straight pipe system.

The car is being built to be a monster yet im trying to hold the reigns enough that i can still go on curvy roads, thats really the only reason it isnt being tubbed or something to that effect.

thanks for the interest guys, ill be keeping you guys as updated as possible, im bringing my new bumper and mirror up to rob hopefully this week so if he has had any progress ill try to grab some pics.

also, anyone have some good ideas for rotors and pads?

I also want to see how much things can take. Very few people actually know where the limit is on the stock drive train. In my opinion there is one way to know, Drive the car, break something, determin the failure.

I have read people saying a lot of crap on these boards. I have never seen someone say "Here is a pic of my drivetrain that broke at 500hp." Untill I do Im not going to bealve 2nd hand info..

GregW

the limit also is very driver dependent. if you're gentle you can get away with a lot more than, say vosko

yea i dont plan on going around power shifting and crap.

the launches also wont be at high rpm, i think that things should survive, like you guys said, i think things will break only if i get wreckless.

carbotech pads ay? any link to them (dont feel like looking now, at work, ill look later when at home but links would be nice)

david lane first suggested these to me, he's been autoXing for like 30+ years and currently runs them on his turbo 1st gen.
