Problems With 13b Engine
#1
Hello. I'm having problems with my 13b. Under 3000 rpm and under slight acceleration it starts to have a problem. It begins accelerating normally then it stops then accelerates and stops again causing a whole lot of shaking in the cabin if you know what i mean. Well i was wondering if any of you guys had a clue to whats going on and i would really appreciate it if you helped me out here. Thanks.

Post it in the 3rd gen section, you will get more responses.
Or try the rx7club.com (more traffic)
The problem you are having sounds a little vague, you might want to describe it a little better as well if you can.
A lot of times when a car is running erratic cant hold an idle or accelerate properly all the sudden, the first thing that is suggested is to check the map sensor, but that dosnt sound like the problem you are having from what I can get from your post.
good luck

sorry about that. i had posted one that i guess described it somewhat better in the single turbo section. ehm its a 1987 Turbo II. well, like you said it wont hold idle under 3k rpm and it starts to drop and then go up again when slightly accelerated. I in fact have no idea whats going on the car is stock. So it couldn't have been any interference between any foreign non-mazda parts.

hate to say it, but it sounds blown. did it just start all of the sudden? of has it gradually gotten worse?
if you just start the car, but don't push the throttle at all, will it run? or do you have to hold the pedal down to keep it running? you say it shakes the car, how bad? and is this at all times, or just when you hit the throttle?

Have you modified the exhaust on this car?
And if so have you fitted a fuel cut defender??
I had a 1987 TII (Series 4 over here) and fitted a 3" exhaust from the back of the standard turbo, due to the much better flow more fuel is used and the computer thinks something is wrong and cuts the fuel.
Ray from Gizzmo electronics (www.gizzmoelectronics.co.nz) supplied me with a device called a Fuel Cut Defender that fitted between the boost valve and the computer on the left hand side of the engine bay and fixed it.
Hope this helps.
