Drove my car 300 miles on the interstate today and lost about a quart of oil during the drive. When I stopped there was a little smoke from hot oil that I could see on the left side of the engine near the dip stick/ oil filter area. It's been leaking for some time because I would notice oil in the drive when I park but I didn't know how bad it was .

Any ideas what to start looking for? It has done this over several oil changes so I don't think it is the filter... Thanks

Could be but I can't tell. There is oil all over that side of the engine. I,m not even sure what im looking at down there at this point. Hoping to get some ideas if there is a common problem. Thanks

Did you change your own oil? Forgot to take off the old oil filter gasket thing, maybe?

it is more than likely your filter tower o rings. they are known to go bad over time. costs less than 10 bucks to fix. when mine were bad i was leaking everywhere...

also, check your oil cooler hoses.. and even if their good check into getting a good set of SS hoses.. they are more reliable.. and less likely to burst/crack under pressure.

clean the engine or get it cleaned and take it from there, dont

drive the car far either, leaking oil is a fire hazard.
