Would it still be the bearing if it's doing it in neutral? Without the clutch being depressed?

you risk ruining the clutch

 

My car is in pretty much the same boat, but it makes other noises that make me think the tranny is leaving this world.



If I pull the tranny, I'm probably going to replace the whole darned mess.



Now I wish I still had my tranny jack. . . .ah well, floor jack works if you're carefull most days.

 

Put in a new pressure plate and throw out bearing.... Still makes noise????

 

maybe its a bearing in the tranny ?
