Recently I picked up a mint condition 1990 RX7 Turbo II. Since driving the vehicle I have noticed a small external noise when I’m in motion. At low speed a hum/whistle occurs when I am moving in gear and not touching the clutch pedal. If I apply the smallest pressure to the clutch this noise goes away. It sounds like it’s coming from the mid section of the vehicle, possible the tranny area. It should be noted that this noise does not affect the performance of the car/tranny. Really, it’s just annoying…

it defintely sounds like a tranny/clutch noise but is NOT the throw out bearing. The TO makes noise when the clutch is depressed.

Fill the tranny with Redline or Mobil 1 or another good synthetic and see if that helps.

I think it's just a slightly tired tranny. Slightly tired as in it could still last 60,000 miles or more.

My advice to you is to sell the car right away, it isnt worth a crap now with that noise, so Ill give you $200 for it. :bigok:
