Fill the tranny with Redline or Mobil 1 or another good synthetic and see if that helps.
read above it says it goes away when he slightly depresses the throwout bearing <_<[/quote]

"At low speed a hum/whistle occurs when I am moving in gear and not touching the clutch pedal. If I apply the smallest pressure to the clutch this noise goes away"

Same thing happens with my car, I'm guessing it's the tranny making a racket or perahps the pilot bearing? (Dunno if they make noise)

My tranny is starting to go bye bye, worn synchros and all that jazz by the look of it. The clutch in the car is pretty new so

Guess I'll swap trannys, buy a used one or else just rebuild this one...except rebulding tranny's hurts your hands.

That and I don't have the stuff to do it anymore....*sniffiles*

another way to test is if you have the car running move the clutch fork by hand and see if the noise goes away. maybe the clutch just needs to be adjusted?

If it is a bearing that is making the noise, how long before it goes and whats the damage (to the car and my bank account)?

Bad joke, I know.......

Anyways, I think it may be the throw out bearing, although I don’t see this as an immediate problem. Bearings can make noise and not affect the shaft they are supporting, but it will need to be replaced one day. The noise hasn’t gotten any worse and I only notice it on occasion. Seeing as the bearing housing is used to depress the unit and there’s no problem with that function, I’m going to let it sit till after winter once it’s out of storage or until I need a need clutch. Unless some else sees this as a terrible plan???

Noticed it does it to a lesser extent at idle, when in neutral and I'm not touching the clutch??? Strange....
