Just installed some new shifter bushings from mazdatrix. To my suprise there were no bushings or springs or anything on the shifter, and also no parts inside. I was a little confused but just accepted the fact and continued the install. The shifter is now nice and tight but does not spring back from the left (1st or 2nd gear) If i push to the right though (5 or Reverse it pops back) Does anyone know what could cause this.

Thanks

Josh

you need the shifter spring, m501-17-465a? , to put it on you need to pull the tranny out and the tail housing off though, just wait until you need a cutch

Yes it stays to the left, and what spring are you talking about? If its the one that comes with the bushings it already in. THere was one spring on the top bushing and one on the lower.

ok, can you elaborate a little more. I will be putting in a clutch in about a month so the time to research is now. Thanks a lot

oh ok, you know that thing in the shifter housing where the shifter goesinta? the sqaure thing with the round hole? theres a shaft that thats on, and the spring goes on that shaft, it pushes on the case and the lever, and they like to snap off the lever end. to change it you need to remove transmission, remove the tailshaft housing. remove the side cover on the shifter housing, and then the roll pin. take off the shaft put new spring on and put it back together
