I got my new '86 GXL today! Love it, love it, love it. It's Arctic Silver, like my old one. No spoiler, though...interior is kinda crappy, body is okay but the paint is faded in places...

-Goes and gets folder-

Ookay...so it got, in '02...

Aluminum Flywheel

Centerforce Clutch

Clutch Pilot Bearing

Clutch Pilot Seal

Rear Trans Seal

Rear-Main Oil Seal

All that is from Mazdatrix...

From Rotary Performance Online, it got...(also in '02)

Jacobs Energy Core Wire Set

NGK Leading Plugs

NGK Trailing Plugs

From Blairsville Mufflers...

Two mufflers...haha Plus front and rear alignment...

In '99...(Wait, are these records going backwards), from Mazdatrix...

Bushing Shifter Set

Front and Rear Trans Mounts

Slave Hose...

From Mazmart in Peachtree, in '02...

Remanufactured Wiper Switch

In '99, From Aamco, it got a rebuilt tranny put into it.

Last but not least...Mazdatrix driveshaft, in '02...

So..yeah..it has a lot of crap.

It smokes a bit until it warms up, and sometimes (most of the time) the idle is so inconsistent that it actually stalls out. TPS or MAF?

Pics later...oh yeah..180k original build :-X

Okay, I've got $570 left...When driving, the temperature sits at half...I don't like that. My old GXL never went above 1/4 unless I drove it hard.

I'm going to replace the thermostat...how long should replacing the waterpump take? I'm going to see if I can get the TPS, Thermostate, Waterpump and Radiator all done with the $570. I don't want any overheating, but thanks.

At least the waterpump and the thermostat plus the TPS...the radiator can wait, I suppose..

What else should I do?

water pump...10-20 minutes. very very easy. other things you mighty want toward cooling. your stock oil cooler is damn good. but theres always upgrades. make sure its an all aluminum radiator. and electric fan as long as its shrouded. frees up stress on the motor too. and try royal purple coolant additive after flushing the coolant system.

Okay, am I nuts or is the TPS in the complete wrong place I thought it was? I'm not sure, but I think it's this doohickey (Hehe) on the front of the throttle body, facing towards you as you're leaning over the engine. It LOOKS like the TPS, and I can't find anything else that looks like it, and every pic I've seen of S5 TPS (Can't find S4 ones) , it looks just like it...except there are two , not one. It appears to be two bolts, if it is the TPS.

Sorry for the **** quality of the pics, I used my phone. (It's actually sort of okay)

Well, pics of the car will have to wait a bit. I only have the ones he took for th ad, and my camera batteries are dead. If you think I'm plaguing the look of the car with the grainyness of my cell phones camera, you're wrong.

Pics coming soon.

Well, it didn't smoke at all this morning. I think the only reason why it was smoking for the dude is because it had been sitting for three weeks...actually, it hasn't been on the road in 3 months until I bought it yesterday, but he drove it once a month. And just before his wife stopped driving it was when he cranked the OMP up, so I don't think the OMP has anything to do with it, I just think it's because it was only being started and driven once a month. I remember when I test drove my first GXL, it had been only a week since Michelle had driven it and it smoked a lil' bit on startup for maybe thirty seconds, and I never saw smoke again after that.

Anyways...

Getting the waterpump, thermostat, air filter, spark plugs and oil changed tomorrow. Darcy is out on vaca for a week so Kyle is going to do it for me...strangely, he's excited to be working on a Rotary since he's never done it before (Should I be scared?).

I'll have roughly 340 left...so I wonder what I'm going to do with that money. It'd probably be smart to replace the radiator, but it looks to be fairly recent. I'm going to get the TPS from somewhere and do that myself, I guess. That is, of course, unless I need special tools because I'm too poor to own much other than two huge boxes full of random screw drivers, a socket set, a torque wrench, power drill and floor jack...

I may buy new tools with what's leftover...yeah...that'd be smart...
