I don't know if my tranny is ready to throw in the towel or if it just needs oil.

When I go to about 2 to 3k rpms it starts making like a tinny rattling sound

like when a peice of heat sheild is loose under a car but its coming from the tranny

what do you guys think should I start looking for a good tranny?

do you check for you clutch or clutch bearing or pilot bearing ! I have this kind of sound and sometime the tranny doesn'T let go in gear. And it was the pilot bearing. you have to check for the oil instead

my 2 cents

it could be the shifter. the trannies will usually make a whining noise in 1-2-3 and 5 but be quiet in 4th

Checking the oil is easy all you have to do is remove the plug on the left side(drivers side) of the car its right up on the side next to the starter. You can use your finger as a dipstick or use a allen wrench doesnt really matter.

Interesting, but I have put 2 trannys in my 10th AE and they both do that. I have decided it's either the shift lever or more then likely something loose under the car. As I have no cats, I also have no heat sheild so I dunno wtf it is, but mine has new tranny, new clutch, new pilot and throw out bearings.

Dunno if that helps much, but whoever figures it out first should let the other one know LOL
