[quote name='ROTARYROCKET7' date='Jun 25 2005, 11:02 AM']yeah i was debating about just rebuilding it and getting a warranty. I would need a price on that and a guarentee it would be good. Theres a guy on this forum selling a "Excellent Condition" 88 RX7 tranny in FL for $175 + $90 shipping. IM thinking about just gettting it from him. Im waiting for some specs on it though to see whats good.

so you would rather ship a used transmission for $265 then get yours rebuilt with a 2 year warranty for $500?

I dont make a dime off the transmissions, you will bring it to the transmission shop and deal with them direct, it will be done in a day or two as long as parts are around for it.

All the syncros and wear items will be replaced, I made the deal with the tranny shop for this reason specifically, I hate to see people dump thier time and money into used stuff and have it go to **** on them, deal with people not shipping things out on time, not arriving as promised, etc etc.

The guy is in Florida, it might be good, who knows, if its not whats your recourse?

If you have a problem with the tranny they will come tow the car and take care of it for you, he owns his own flatbed specifically for this reason.

500 for a rebuild is a great deal, Id jump on it. Or get a T2 tranny and have it rebuilt, throw that in your car.

I had a 90 MX6 I built a few years ago. Broke the motor in, turned up the psi a bit, and **** 3rd gear onto ST RD60 here in FL. Moral of story, if you think its gonna work fine it wont.

I paid somewhere in that neighborhood for a trans rebuild, smart money has it rebuilt if nothing else for piece of mind, should have done it before it went in the car but oh well, as long as it gets done.

[quote name='ColinRX7' date='Jun 25 2005, 10:32 AM']I think he should drop the assembly himself if the fluid level is fine

I'm with 89Rag

Then he can look and see if there was any shoddy installation procedures or take any pics for us to see

i will definetly do that . THe hardest part was the conversion dropping the tranny isnt a big deal. Im going to talk to my boy and see if we can use his mech shop so we can get under the car much easier then i will take a bazillion pictures since ya all know i love pics.

And i guess we will take it from there

[quote name='1revnrex' date='Jun 25 2005, 12:21 PM']Get another tranny Jay, Dont let stupid **** like this discourage ya. If anything do like I told ya on AIM and rip it apart after ya drop it, it will give ya an idea of what went wrong and also give ya an opportunity to take pictures of everything. You're like a damn Japanese tourist anyway

YO rob to be honest i would do the rebuild in a second. But man i dunno if its just me but this tranny feels like ****. If you can vouch that they can bring this POS out of the gutter and to becoming a reliable smooth tranny then yo ill jump on it like a frog. But i rather get a tranny lets say thats not as shitted on as this one so then the rebuild will be worth more if thats possible.

Yo rob, if your boys can do it and rebuild it put new **** make it like new then yo we got ourselves a deal. IM so ******* desperate i want the car ready for ROTORFEST!

So i get paid June3oth. My check will go to that. So give me the number and let me call them up to pipck up the car i dont want to **** it up any more iight

EDIT: How long will it take for them to rebuild it?

they can be rebuilt cheaper just to get the car going again, but for $500 that covers all the wear items and syncros, not just the ones that are a problem now.

Why skimp for a hundred bucks or so after the thing is already out you know?

I already told you a day or two, picking up the car and them pulling and installing the tranny is going to cost you more money you know?

Its a professional shop with 2 locations who are very respected in the industry.

Not much to thier website:

I deal with the owner, not the managers by the way

no shop in the world can pull a tranny, rebuild it, and install it for $500

unless they change one syncro or something crazy like that and call it a rebuild. I can get you a price to do the whole thing but im sure you can find someone to help you pull it

let me again point out that your not dealing with a one man shop or a guy in his garage at home, maybe take your chances and get another used one and hope that the worse is it will have a bad 3rd gear syncro
