if u drop the steering colum and remove the plasic cover you can see the blank bolts holding on the ignition switch and cut the screws off or use a chisle to tap the w/ a hammer until loose then remove the ignition cylinder and the steering lock will be eliminated then you have to find the irght combination of wires on the back of the switch to connect together to jump the car

One screw if I remember is all that holds the switch itself to the lock cylinder. After the above to unlock the steering, just remove the switch and use a small flat screwdriver to turn the switch.

You're giving a guy with 3 posts advice on how to essentially steal a car?

he just bought the car, probably his first rx7 and first problem, i would guess those are all good reasons for only having 3 posts. i'm sure there are easier targets out there then an 88 rx7 without keys.

with my 93 rx7 you can get the ignition switch out easily by removing the plastic colum covers as mentioned, and then its one screw on the left side that holds the switch to the lock cylinder, once the switch is removed you can rotate it into start positon with a screwdriver. I've never removed the lock cylinder so i cant help there.

Can mazda get new keys with the VIN # on an older vehical?

If not your will prob have to replace the lock cylinder at some point so you can actually use a key to start it

leave it alone.

take the trunk lock to a locksmith, from there they can make a key for the car.

I have done it 2 times already for RX7s with no keys.

will cost about $25, and it takes about 5 minutes if that to get the lock out.
