Yes, I searched. The actuators are fine (I can move them with simple finger pressure when uninstalled). So, the ports themselves are stuck. I didn't find any info on how to break them loose. Can I just lightly hammer on them to get them rotating? If they're stuck now, and I can break them loose, are they going to freeze up again in a few weeks or months? I'm trying to keep away from removing the LIM just to get them moving...

It would probably be better for you to take the intake off and clean them out with some carb cleaner.

you can try that, take off the actuators and tap the metal things with a hammer... thing is the thing that connects to the insert is kind of flimsy.. would suck if you broke it.

nice terms, I know!

tap the thing to the thing connected to the thing inserted in the thing.... DONE.

if you can free em up, you need to pull the intake and clean it

Well, I climbed in there and went to town with whatever I could get my hands on. Finally took the ACV and tubing out of there to make room. Got a set of pliers on them, I can force them about 60% of the way around, but they are REALLY frozen. Looks like I'll spend the weekend tearing the intake apart...

Can someone give me an idea of what is freezing them? Do the sleeves gall, or is there just sccumulated gunk on the spinny joint thing or inside? Or is there soemthing that should make me upset when I get it torn open and look inside (like, are they known for suffering from oil/water/gas leakage?)

usually what causes them to freeze or stick is simple carbon build up.. which means you or the previous owner didnt use them that much..

Remember, rotarys like to revvv.. it wont hurt them when you take it beyond 4000 rpms.. (3800 port acutation) just make sure the engine is well taken care of and is fully warmed up before you rev that high

It's just carbon build up. no worry's. if your like me and dont mind loosing a slight amount of low end grunt remove the sleeves and block off the area where the actuators connect.. you'll get a bit more top end power like this

PO, not me...I hit 110-120 every day coming home from work

Car sat for several months after a rebuild before I bought it, took a week before it really decided that it wanted to start and run everytime, now it's a dream, except for these little thing (electrical gremlins, sixports, torn driver's leather seat, torn ragtop).
