if something can go wrong while I'm working on it, it will go wrong

shopping list:

pulsation damper

lower to upper intake gasket

little gasket kits for the injectors

anything else?

until I get the stuff, will it be ok to wipe off the area each time I have to go somewhere, or should I just not drive it at all? (scheduled to rain this week...motorcycle + rain = not very fun)

it's a good idea to avoid driving it, you don't want a fire.

this is my shopping cart

pulsation damper

gasket intake- center

injection o-rings

injection upper grommet

injection lower grommet

I didn't see anything called a middle one...just top and bottom grommets, and top o-rings

I have a haynes manual...should that be good enough for this task? (even though I'll probably refer to you guys about 23 million times by the time I'm done)

Yea, you will need the injector o-ring and then the upper and lower grommets. The thing I like about VictoriaBritish is that they sell an injector seal kit. Each kit contains two o-rings, two sets of grommets and two sets of dust boot thingies, all for 10.95. .
