ok so i had my car sitting at my shop for 5 months while waiting for a new tranny and to get my clutch kit in there... i just got it back a little over a week ago... and the first day i got it back i fried one of the lines going to the leading coils... so i towed it back to the shop and fixed that... now it seem that my car takes forever to crank over and it ony cranks at 8v.... the car never had any problems like this before and it had a stock s4 alt and a brand new battery in it recently... so after a new alt and battery the car sucks right now...

so where can i get a ridiculously high powered alternator... and i'm gonna try to deep cycle the battery today and see if i can't get that to charge up real good... i just don't like the car taking a couple seconds to crank and then having to rev it a couple times to get my voltage to come up... and when i have wipers and headlights on it kinda worries me that the car won't make it down the road... so if anyone has any ideas shoot them out...

If it worked fine before hand, I wouldn't get a bigger alternator just to band aid the problem. Sounds like a wiring problem to me. Check all visible conections ie. grounds, power, ignition, and especially battery connections.

Yeah....what speedster said. Also if you want more juice a 3rd gen alt will do the job. Theres a fellow forum member selling them already fitted with the 2nd gen pulley. Not sure if hes on this forum but on the other 2 his name is Silverrotor.

would battery connections cause a charging system to not charge and then slowly kill the battery

The battery is probably just bad or really low on juice. I had the same thing happen to me. It was the battery.

I have a similar problem. I've heard it might be the gauge, but I'm getting 12.0 on idle and 12.5 under load...I have a new battery and new alternator. Any suggestions on where I should start looking?

battery is probably just dead.. you can't let it sit for 5 months. I charge mine once a week while sitting.
