I lose all power in left turns. It was fine three days ago but now I can't make any hard type turns left with out the car lurching and starving for gas.

Racing beat set up with holley 4bl with center pivot race bowls. I thought he center pivot bowls fix this problem? Anyway, anybody have any ideas on this? I can turn right fine.

Thanks,

Craig

i had actually thought of this. I'm at quarter tank. I was going to see if that made a difference tomorrow when I fill up. I hope not. That would mean i would only get good cornering up to half empty. is that common. It's got a 6 psi carter electric pump

Anybody eles?

Didn't someone have a problem like this with a stock set-up, and it turned out to be a dirty sock filter thing around the pick-up in the tank.

I believe you can get some kind of jet extension for that problem. But then you may have problems with right turns . Also you might want to install a set of vent extension tubes in the float bowels - they are sort of rectangular cross section plastic tubes that stop fuel from barfing out the vents.

Here's an example of the jet extensions:

The vent ones are a standard Holley part you should be able to get at any speed shop.

I would think a 2nd gen would have good tank baffling (most EFI cars do).

Back in the day, some of us old guys could take a corner hard enough for the centrifugal force to pull all the gas away from the pickup tube. Knowing this, Mazda engineers put baffles in the tank, which fixed the problem. If your problem goes away when the tank is more than half full, then your baffles have rusted out. The fix is either a new tank or getting someone to weld the baffles back in to your old tank.

Thanks guys!!! It's actualyl a 13 b with holley in a Datsun 510 so i'm pretty sure that old tank never had baffles.

I"ll check the floats too. If it's the tank. Is it easier to go with a foam filled fuel cell or a surg tank?

Opinions?

Good luck finding someone who will weld inside a fuel tank.
