hey i have a 89 gsl and i am thinking of reuseing the stock manafold and exc. well i hate emissions and i don't have to meet them, so i was wondering how can i gut out the manafold of all the emisions controls cold start stuff and other crap like that. i am just trying to get the intake anf the fule systems by themselfs.and remove all the vacume system.

Questions:

1.will this mess with the ecu at all???

2.will it run the same if i do this??

3.if not how will it run???

4.how hard would it be??

Cold start can go, many people remove that stuff. As for the vacuum and hoses underneath the manifold that generally has to stay. If you switch to a stand alone ECU (ala: Haltech) then can can remove all of it, including your AFM

Which would leave you something that looks like this:

K&N connected directly to the TB, Braided hoses for fuel replacing the spiderweb of hoses and relays.

AFM=air flow meter. It measures how much air is coming into the enigne and gives fuel accordingly. Its the black thing right after you intake box.

Close but still off a bit.I love your engine by the way.Have you tested it out yet DAC?Looks like it moves good. You CAN run a stock ECU and take out the vaccum spider but you have to run the AFM still.Just study the diagram on the manual carefully.Theres a thread on this subject I posted in the FAQ section.
