Recentlly purchased a 1985 GSLSE a fair amount of smoke coming from the manafold area cannot tell exactlly where it is coming from do to the heat shield. Has a smell almost like antifreeze, and is irritating to the eyes. Not sure what the cause of this may be, also the smell cannot be sensed from the exhaust pipe.

there is insulation on a plate surrounding the exhaust manifold which after a while will degrade. This happened to me a couple years ago. When it gets really hot, it lets out a thick smoke. take off that plate and you should be fine
