Idle Trouble - Help!
#1
I have a '90 GTU, when started the idle is quite erractic. If I do not keep reving the motor when stopped, it will stall. Once it's warmed up, it runs, but is still rough. I have just purchased the vehicle and I am not familiar with rotor motors or the RX7. Can anyone suggest where I should start?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I picked up the car last night, so I haven't had much time to inspect the filters and plugs in detail. I will do so shortly. I have searched for any vacuum leaks and could not find any. As far as BAC, Thermowax, and TPS go, I have no idea what those are. Could someone point me to a place to read on those parts or maybe give a quick explaination on how to check and repair them? I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks for all of the responses. I have gone ahead and replace the plugs and wires. When I removed the plugs, I discovered two things. One, they were completely black, and two, they were in the wrong holes. The leading was in the trailing and vise versa. The car runs much better now, once I am able to get it started.
Now, when I try to start the car when it is cold, it just cranks alot. Takes ten or so tries to get it started. When it does start a large cloud of white smoke puffs out the exhaust. Any suggestions?
Thanks again!

I still think you need to get your TPS and/or timing set... it sounds like your car is running rich or has a leaking injector?. You said your plugs were black (maybe their just old), you have to crank it forever to turn over, and the puff of white smoke depending on the smell could be residual fuel... or coolant.
