Idle Problems

I did a search and i couldn't come up with anything.. I am having trouble with my RX. its an 89 GXl.. the car starts fine and run good when its driving, but when its started and I am not giving it gas the idle is all over the place.. its going form about 1000rpm, down to 100rpm, then back to 1000rpm, its really up and down.. any ideas??

could be your BAC valve, TPS, vacuum leak, etc. At least it is running good. Does it vary depending on electrical load or operating temp or is it constantly fluctuating no matter what?

when its just at idle no matter what lights, radio, and a/c off, and with it all on..

You said it drives fine but how is the fuel & ignition? (fuel filter, plugs).



Did you mess with the idle adjustment at all and did you check your TPS adjustment?

i didn't touch the idle adjustment, and I havn't looked at the plugs?? what do I look for?

I meant how is the maintenance.. when's the last time the plugs and fuel filter were changed?
