How To Use...?
my name is Bora
I am an owner of 1990model RX-7 from Turkey. The new motor of my car has been driven for 9000km. The people who are responsible for the service of Mazda are not capable enough to inform me how to use the car better. Can you give me some advice to get the best of the car.
Moreover , do you have any advice about the kind of the motor oil (I prefer to use 20-50 Castrol GTX! Do you think that using it is appropriate?)
What kind of benzine do you suggest?
In Turkey the motor of RX-7 lasts approximately for 60-70.000km. What will the lifetime of the motor be , if I use it in the best way?
Do you thnk that any kind of modifications will be neccessary , when assemble the motor of ‘90model RX-7 to RX-8?
Do you suggest any web site from which I can buy modification parts?

Hey, welcome. What's the climate like in Turkey. I use 20w50 castrol gtx also since is always warm and nice in Southern California.
Is the car turbo or non turbo?? Is probably turbo, engien should last more than 70000km. Most stock can last up 160,000km (100,000miles) with no problem. Non turbo can go up to 3 times more and then some.
Is you car modified??

Welcome to NoPistons! I would advise using 20w50 Castrol Oil. It's good oil for your climate. To keep your engine lasting as long as possible, change your oil regularly and check oil level frequently. I would advise changing oil every 3000 KM and checking your oil at least every time you fill up your tank.
Castrol GTX 20w50 is a great choice. Change it regularly and check it often, rotaries do burn oil (about one quart every 1000 miles, you do the math).
If it's non-turbo, use a low octance number (like 87). If it's turbo, probably the higher levels (92-93). Not sure how fuel works over there in terms of grades.
Other advice:
-Don't rev the car above 4K (even that's kinda high) when it's cold.
-Don't over-rev the car, at least not often.
-Flush the cooling system once a year. Do a good job on this.
-Never, ever, ever overheat. If you notice anything unusual in terms of temperature, stop.
-Make sure your oil injection is working properly.
-Enjoy your car, it is a wonderful machine
