im having a 89 na delivered to my shop tomorro...my friend just about gave it to me (i gotta pay 175 fer the rebuilt alt.) but it is burning coolant and the clutch went out....it had 170k on it and i want to put in a brnad new...or close to na motor in it soo i can start fresh...i want it to be street ported, my goal is 250hp w/o turbo is that reasonable???? and what all do i need.......what would you guys do to a na??

250 is possible on a built EP motor running IDA Carbs. Not a streetable set-up

Just playing with ya man. I don't know much about the NA Rotary, but I would assume it would be much like any other. Get more air in, burn more fuel more efficiently, get more exhaust out. Port, Dual TB setup (keep EFI) or go carb, headers, exhaust, fuel pump, ignition. Its pretty much how much are you wanting to spend. Rotaryman88 is working on a first gen project and his goal is 300 NA. So far I know he has a holley carb setup with maniflods and stuff (not a carb guy), headers and no exhaust. But the motor also has to be ported and put back together. So hopefully he will see some good numbers out of it. He doesn't know if he will continue on with the 12a or a 13b.
