a haltech system is an engine management system that replaces the stock ECU and allows you to configure your car through a laptop www.haltech.com

it's for any car, not just turbos... 4, 6, 8, 12, 16 cylinders and rotaries....

mine, with everything, costed me $1,433, i ordered it strait through haltechs and i got them to give me shop prices... but it runs around 1600 or more with everything....

Yes it does improve performance, quite a bit from what i hear, you can control the amount of fuel you use, boost (on turbos), ignition, etc.....pretty much every aspect of the engine.... it is a job and then alot more installing it... but you will learn alot about your car by doing so (I have atleast)...

well since my car isn't turbo I was planning on just getting my stock ecu chipped up by jets or either MD. Md said i could get +25 hp and 25+ lbs of TQ and 5 more mpg. for like $300....., and my rev limiter moved to 9G rpm.

I'd think that whether or not your car is turbo it'd be a good idea to get the haltechs....it does so much more then just control boost.... and eventually I'm going to get a boost controller anyways and not use the haltechs

I think that if he plans on converting his car to turbo the Haltech will definitely be a better choice, but some of the chips for NA's are pretty good for the money. The Haltech may not do much better than them.

The lap top is use to change and modify the fuel, ignitions map and many other little things.

The lap top does not operate the engine directly.
