Well, since you have a T2, a DP is a good start. With a turbocharged car, bigger is better. On the stock turbo, 3 inches seems to be enough. The Y pipe should be a 3 inch inlet to 2 2.5 inch outlets. Then the mufflers shoulld be a 2.5 inch inlet (duh) and whatever size tip you want. As far as mufflers, I have foulnd that the EBay N1 style mufflers sound great, dont look ridiculous, and are cheaper than anything else out there. You can also do a single exit, but make the muffler a 3 inch inlet, but why do that on a car that is meant for dual.

Cats are a different story. Only put one on for inspection or smog testing. Or if you dont have that crap, leave it off.

Also, the larger diameter piping you choose will affect the sound. It will give it more of a hollow tone that I think sounds better on a rotary. You can really hear the pulses of the engine.

Ive got a new setup now that is a 4 inch pipe to a 4 inch in and 2 4 inch outs to 2 4 inch in and out mufflers that shoot straight out of the back. I cant wait to finish it up and hear it with my new turbo

Sounds like good advice. I went single with mine for weight savings and because one muffler costs less than two, but my car is primarily a race car. There's no doubt the duals will look better.
