I'm new to this forum.

I have a 1987 Mazda RX-7 13b S4 N/A with 184,xxx original miles.

As of now I can't get it to spark, so I'm planning to rebuild it.

I looked around and I found a place with intelligent people in the modifying world of rotaries that I hope I will have a great relation with!

I'm also on 7club.

Welcome to nopistons!

FYI, fixing the spark issue is MUCH EASIER than doing an engine rebuild. If you rebuilt the engine, you'd still have the spark issue anyway.

I can't figure out why I'm not getting any spark. I changed some of the grounds, the easy ones, I got new plugs, wires, and low mileage coil packs. When I got spark, my idle was real rough, everything was shaking. I blew some fuses and now I'm stumped. So, I figured the only solution is to pull the engine, check and repair my harness. Since my engine is out and my rear plate is cracked, I should rebuild and get new irons. Then port my engine and begin the interesting journey of tuning. I hate being told to search, because I don't know exactly what my solution is, and like most rotary enthusiasts, I really need to hear my engine roar! Besides, I wanted to rebuild my engine since I got it my Rx7, its my first car and I enjoy it!

check all your fuses it could be something stupid also if by chance it gets flooded remember pull both egi fuses crank 3 times for 10 secs at wide open throttle replace said egi fuses and crank WOT until it starts but that crack rear iron is bad for sure get a new one and check the rest of your irons they could still be good

Check Fuses although a no spark issue is rarely a fuse problem.

You are going to have to go from the motor back

Spark plug wires, coil, ignition module, power, ecu. sometimes the connector on the crank angle sensor gets screwy and doesn't send the right signal, or none at all to the ecu. crank angle sensors and ignition module rarely go bad in my experiences.

Thanks for moving my original thread...

Anyway, I put in new plugs, plug wires, and (new to me) coil packs.

It could be the leading coil packs because when I received it, the two tan wires were cut, so I had to cut and splice my old plug onto it. When I changed all the engine fuses, it started, but it was really rough from engine bay to tailpipe, I drove it 12 feet and it died; I think it could be that the trailing plugs were firing, but the leading plugs weren't. Also, when I searched this site, in a thread, they established that the CAS could stop fuel and spark, so I will check that. The cracked rear iron has not done anything with compression to the rear rotor, but it still is a complication that needs to be tended to. Fixing this issue will defiantly help in that I won't have to mess with it later.

Thanks for helping me out, I'm gonna get right on it tomorrow and report back!
