I'm bored at work, as usual...just wondering what are your alls most memorable or favorite stories about your Rx?

Mine is when I was about 6 years old, sitting in my dad's 1981 GS and listening to him talk about the car. It was modified, but I don't remember with what...and he was always telling me about the rotary engine and how when I got older he'd let me have the car....well...he sold it when I was 7, lol...but I still remember it. I actually didn't know it was called an RX7...I just knew it as "the red race car"...if we ever went out or on a small trip..I asked "can we take the red race car", lol. The car was owned by my grandfather when it was new, then my aunt had it, then my dad. We've had 4 rx7s in my family.....ok...enough sappy stuff...what about all of you?

I got many, some good most bad. :frown: When I had my 90 GTU I took it out to the Washington coast (Ocean Shores), there you can drive on the beach, fun place to take a 7. Well my friend and I were doing doughnuts, J-turns, ect. on the beach. Well the cops there don't like when you do that stuff :frown: We both got slapped with Negligent Driving in the 3rd deg. tickets. But later got them dropped in court. But then on my drive back home I got a speeding ticket for going 60 mph in a 55. :madgo:

A year and a half ago, in my vert, I was in a little tourist city about 300 miles from home. I burned out as I was leaving a parking lot. Got pulled over, and I'd been drinking earlier that night, blew a .049. Got a ticket for Negligent driving in the 1st deg. :frown: I took it to court, but as I was driving to court my tranny went out on me. So I had to drive my car for a half hour in 2nd gear only. Went to court got the ticket reduced to a Neg driving in the 3rd deg. Had to drive my car for another half an hour back to my camp site. From there I got it towed 300 miles back to my repair shop.

One of my favorite stories is of a 3 way drag race. I have a reputation of always winning (not my fault ) so people were always on the lookout for me. I was sitting in the left lane at a light, and I see a Conquest TSI pull up in the right lane. The guy had some mods, and was running 19 psi. (I didn't know that at the time). In the middle lane, a Dodge Shelby Charger turbo pulled up, one of my favorite cars to race, because there are a lot of them (modded) in the Syracuse area. Anyway, the Charger driver looks over at the Conquest and then over at me and says: "Looks like this is going to be the race of the century." I looked over, smiled, and said: "I don't know about that." I brought the rpms up to 6 grand, and the light turned green. I don't know if they raced each other, but they sure as hell didn't race me.

The Charger driver caught up to me later. All he had to say was: "Holy ****! That thing can ****** launch!"

I had a couple more runs one on one with the Conquest...it was quick, but not quick enough.

One more good one:

We were getting kicked out of everywhere we tried to hang out one night, so we decided to go to Dunkin Donuts. Great place to avoid cops, right? I have seriously never seen a cop at this place, but that's beside the point. On the way there, 2 of my friends decided to race. One had a modded Golf, and the other had a modded Jetta. I was right behind them when they lined up, so I decided to play along. I gave the Golf about a 2 car head start, and then hit the gas. I came up on him so fast I thought I was going to hit him. When we got to DD, my friend Brett asked them if they had raced, and they said yeah. So wise-*** me says: "Yeah, and I would have gotten here sooner, but they were racing in front of me."

Roger, the driver of the Golf, replied: "You were a bit close, weren't you? I couldn't even see your lights...all I saw in my rear view was stripes."

We sure do have some fun during the summer.

My old 1985 RX-7... it was the middle of a blizzard, not to be stranded at home, I loaded my hatch with all the weight I could find, 2 cinder blocks were some of it, ******* car drove like a champ, so after that I replaced all the junk with 3 50lb sand bags and I never had a problem in the snow with that little car, thing was so damm slow, the bags didnt make a difference anyhow ( put these as close to the middle of the car as you can if you try this at home )...... Next is when I got my 1988 convertible, I had taken care of the car for the original owner, a woman, who a few years later passed away, her son inherited the car, who pretty much proceeded to dent every part of the car he could, which is when I no longer took care of it. His uncle some time after that asked me if I wanted to buy the car, the kid had hit a curb or some ****, and it had frame damage they were told. I drove the car home, put $85 in a lateral link, another $50 or so for a alinment, and the car to this day serves me just fine.

I bought an 85 six year ago. I loved that car!! I used to love driving that thing to the beach, park on the sand, and recline myself on the hood aginst the windshield with a bottle of Slitz and relax to the view of the night sky. That car never gave me problems. When something broke, it was easy enough for me to fix! That is pretty good for a girl! It wasn't very fast, but with all the noise it made, it could be mistaken for a genuine race car. I slept in that car, cried in that car, lauphed many times in that car, and at one time lived in that car. About the only thing I didn't do in that car is get laid! I had to sell it when it started having vacume problems. It would cost more for me to fix it then it would for me to buy another car. I am looking in to getting a 2nd generation car. Just can't live without the 7! I came across one that needed some work. It shuts off in mid air. Check out the discussion board and let me know if you have any suggestions. :yinyang:
