Does anyone use RTV sealant instead of gaskets on their car? Work just as good?

I was thinking about using high temp RTV sealant instead of waiting for gaskets to arrive. Waddaya think?

I used non-permanant gasket sealant on my intake manifolds. I figured sealant is good, and I'll probably be taking it off again in the future. Someone let me know if there's something wrong with that.
