Get an Apex ITC and advance the timing 20 degrees.

whos got a haltech and how much did you end up paying for the whole thing?
I bought mine from RX7.com with the terminated hardness. Prices are on their website. I think it was $1300. They threw in a Base RX7 map, but it was for SHI*T. I ended up getting a couple of maps from other people and using them as BASE maps to get mine running.
I like all the features the Haltech offers. My motor is a N/A but now I have an easy option to go with a Turbo JSpec motor.
The reason I did the ECU swap was I did a motor swap and the factory harness was way to brittle to try to make the Factory ECU work.

I thought about going with a standalone on the 91 coupe to "prepare" me for my next setup. If I go with a Haltech maybe I'll steal a map from you.

That would probably be better than a 20 degree advance.
