To answer your first 2 problems (no exhaust, want power), get a decent exhaust! Racing Beat is generally considered the best bang for your buck, and the best sound.

PACESETTER Got this on a 87 NA and through JC Whitney to boot! Like 50 bucks off and free shipping. The 4 tips get a while to get used to but price is right and the tips are stainless steel! Somehow much cheaper than through the Pacesetter, was the cheapest I could find putting the car together and used them before with no problems. Good sound (not as loud as I sure some people here like) and enough backpressure that the secondarys on the S4 work just like they are supposed to.

I haven't owned them myself, but many folks say the pacesetter exhaust tends to rust.

Just thought I would throw that out as an option at least on a N/A car. Maybe some have had bad luck, I put one on a first gen RX 12a and had it 3 years in Ohio no problems. Had one on the 88 I parted out for over 5 years in Fl was quite solid till daughter backed into large dumpster. (dark tint) Left side was too bent up to mess with. This one is improved over the earlier set the 88 had, has better tips on the mufflers and doesn't drone on the highway. Put one on my Triumph TR-6 also, can say the mounts or hangers may need adjusted. I have had to do with all four sets I installed, maybe bent in shipping I don't know, boxes were pretty beat after the UPS ride!
