I have 86 Rx7 non-turbo model. I think my car is running really rich, could that cause it to fail emissions? it idles roughly, it seems like it is going to die. Always bouncing from 400-900 rpms, but sometimes it's steady, but not for long, never steady. What could cause it to run rich and fail emissions? Also it kills gas more than a regular rx7

Thanks

DO A TOTAL TUNE UP MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CAT IS GOOD ..TAKE IT OUT FOR A GOOD RIDE BFORE THE TEST (A HOT CAT IS GOOD.IT'S WORKIN)GO TO TEST NEAR EMPTY THROW A BOTTLE(I LITRE) OF METHYL HYDRATE INTO THE TANK(JUST BEFORE TEST).TO TWO GALLONS (SHOULD DO)..IF YOU CAN GET THE AIR PUMP TO FLOW DIRECTLY TO THE CAT (..work.pump to steel line of cat at the firewall)after you pass the test fill up tank..don't keep the mix in too long and DO not drive the crap out of it with just that mix in the tank..safe for duration of test though..hope it helps ya!

you don't have to do the air pump thing unless you failed BAD..this method will mix the exhaust with good air and dillute your over-all reading.
