I could buy what a few suggestion, but too expensive right now.. ... If you're that cash strapped, buy new gaskets from Mazda and just gut the precats. Leave the main one alone or it will leak. That is the cheapest way, damn close to as good as replacing them with a pipe, and won't sound like a barrel full of flies.
I like your signature.
I laugh every time I read it. |
That won't be a problem with me - I don't mind the loud noise. Atleast I got something to back it up - if I ended up getting it, without it being ricey.

It may work the same for about a year or so if they use cheap ass pipe. Plus it'll sound like peppered ass if you run no converters, no presilencer, and the stock catback.

I'll add on a header and pre silencer. Don't just tihnk I'll do a straight pipe and leave it at that... nooo way. considering i've already had to replace the main cat, it probably would be a good idea. But like I said, I don't mind the loudness, it's not gonna be ricey-loudness anyway. If I can't find a performance shop/muffler shop to do it, I can ask Jim, as he suggested earlier. |

Just keep your main converter that is new, it also has the air tube, a shop shouldnt give you a hard time about making a pipe if you are at least keeping ONE converter on there, BUT- Keep in mind, it is a FEDERAL law to remove emissions, you dont have a relationship with a shop so it will be hard for you, ask your local pals, im sure SOMEONE knows SOMEBODY. Then when you have more then $4.87 to your name take off the last converter and do the engine mods. For the measly power you are going to gain, why not just keep the one converter on there and dont molest the thing under the hood?
I still say the car will be too loud, but what do I know, lol. Dont ask us again in a week, thank you! *shrugs* |

The thing is.... taking any or all cats out of your car is illegal, and they won't do it period. That is why I asked is there any simplier way to go to a exhaust/performance shop to get it done.

If you're going to add a header/presilencer, why are you going to waste money on a straight pipe now?
And it WILL be a ricey loudness, I've already done it years ago. |

*shrugs* good idea. |
i just threw 1 away. i cut flanges offa precats and welded them on a peice of tube. but running rb headers and huge mufflers it was too loud for statewoman[yes] 120$ worth. so we went to rb presilencer and it really helped out. you can take main cat off and clean it out any if u want-precats are easy to gut. :stickpoke:

Its such a good idea that I posted it on the last page https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
