Engine Looping

I just put in a new 13b engine in my 2nd gen. The engine runs great except for a few problems. When i disconnect the tps from the warness the engine idles rough around 1000 but runs fine at 2000+. When I connect it it seems to run smooth at all ranges but it loops it self going from 1000 to 1500 and back down to 1000 and 1500 and so on. Does anyone know the cause of it? Right at the moment im tearing the whole thing down making sure every wire is hooked up and grounded along with checking any vaccuum leaks. This is well appreciated. I thank those who take the time to read this.

You need to adjust the tps. The ecu needs to be seeing 1.0v at idle from the tps. The tps has to be plugged in to check it this way, but Ive found it to be the most accurate way to check it. I stick a pin through the back of the connector so I can get a reading with a voltmeter without disconnecting the tps.

Thats What I do as well, works like a charm. Once you adjust it shut the car off, let it cool, and then do the whole thing again.

I took off the whole intake system thinking any of the gaskets were bad. Probably a bad idea. The gaskets are good (no cracks) but im think since i took them off i should prolly get new ones. After i put it all back togather the engine is worse then before. The engines starts runs to 5k rpms then drops to 3k then down to 1k. Still same effect with the looping. However now, when it gets to 2k rpms or lower it just chokes itself. Exhuasts smokes blue which probably running rich (i can also smell it). I can only start it once then run it and it will just flood itself and have to wait to start it again or i have to cut the fuel switch then start then connect them back. The engine is still strong, it has to be, or i just hope.

did you hook up all the ground wires when you put the new engine in... there should be a bunch, one on the exhuast, the intake, the block near the starter.... mine ran like crap becuase for some reason when i got the car there was only one ground wire... from negative terminal to block... i added grounds to everything that was supposed to be grounded and now it runs like a champ...

Yea, the only ground wires i know of is the one under the exten manifold. one near the throttle body and one near the starter. Looking at the wire harness, those were everything. i could check that exhaust... I'm not sure if that could be a problem. what needs to be grounded other then maybe the o2 sensor...
