ECU Grounding help
#3
Pins 3A, 3B, 3C, and 3D are direct ground. If you're wanting to check to make sure it's grounded the easiest way, and more proper than just looking at a lug, is to check continuity between those pins and ground with an multi-meter. The connector containing those pins is the largest of the three. All four pins are at one end of the connector. Two are black/white, another is black, and the last is brown/black.

The engine is not the ECU now is it?
There are three grounds I can think of off the top of my head. One is near the starter. There is one on the driver's side of the intake. And the other is on top of the trans and runs to the spade terminal on the firewall.

dang, thats odd becuase i have an s5 (89) car all original one owner i bought for a parts car and it has an egr vavle just like my s4 (86).... hmmm...
The S5s do not have an EGR valve. The center iron is blanked out where the EGR would go. I did mis-speak on the ground though. There is one that threads into the rear rotor housings through the rats nest.
