Why do T2 wiegh so much more than a NA?

Is it the turbo and all the stuff that goes with it or is there other little things

would a NA with a T2 swap(engine, tranny, etc) be lighter than just a T2?

Thnx

my guess would be something to do with increased durability of the parts to handle the extra power.. I drive an NA so I don't really know how much more weight there is, but they're both pretty nimble

My car went up in weight when i did a swap to Turbo. Weights around 2800 # in turbo form. When I weighted at the track, that was my big ***, laptop. 2 bins full of tools in case something breaks and near full tank of gas, i was tipping the scales at 3133lbs. The turbo cause some weight, alone with the beefier drivetrain and of course the heavy s4 TII rims.

Bigger brakes, bigger sway bars, bigger wheels, bigger tires, the turbo itself, the IC, IC piping, the transmission is a stronger unit, so it may weigh more, etc. Unfortunately, there’s not a 200 pound bag of sand hidden somewhere. The stuff that makes it go fast is heavier than air, making the car weigh more.

The only actual REAL weight gain in the t2 drivetrain in the differential. The tranny doesn't weight more then 4#s more, same with the driveshaft.
