Detonation Questions

Cool I think that answers my question. Now I know hwat to listen for. I'll be sure to let you know if I ever here any. Most likely it will cause me to need an engine rebuild.

My noise is like a metal rake scraping across cement. I get it at near redline in 3rd gear. Turborotor suggested checking voltage to the fuel pump and rewiring it if neccassary. I was just wondering if there were any simpler things it could be first.

Just to make sure....

I've heard detonation in a piston engine before. Does it sound the same in a rotary. As i said before, i get the metal rake sound. I always thought it was detonation.

In a piston engine I can usually here individual pings. This sounded the same, but less discernable (sp). It could really go either way as to if it is detonation or not. Maybe I am just not used to taking my car to redline.

Throwout bearing is a little iffy, but it definatley sounded like it was from the engine area.
