Rob rx-7,

can i ask you some more quesitons about body work? i've never done body work before, and after getting my seven i have repaired several very small bubbling of paint due to bad seals around the windshelid and water collecting in these areas.

My next body shop problem is to taken some minor rust on the A-pillar of the car, after opening the door i see a bit of rust about the size of a silver dollar, and it is just bubbling hte paint away. My plan is to take my dremel out and grind the area so i see metal again.

But my concern is how to paint this area i have just grinded away. In the past i used to ahve a automotive paint supply store mix me matching paint and put it into a spray can.

When i went about to somehow mask away the interior of the car ie open door and want to paint door sills, i can't quite get it working right... the stupid masking keeps falling off.

How do the pros paint hte door jams and inside of door.

I'm also tempted to spray the paint into a cup and take out a paint brush and paint it that way

You basically mask the jambs anyway you can. Of course you clean the entire area with a Prep-Sol like solvent, which is used to clean any wax and other impurities. Around the house you can try some alcohol if you want to keep costs down. Use good quality masking tape and tape it to as many things as you can. I would reccomend you paint a entire area of the door jamb versus keeping it small and put some of that anti-rust stuff that Eastwood sells on thier first. You can even ask them give you the paint in a can versus a spray can so you dont have to spray it out to brush it.

I have one area of the door jamb I have to paint because there was a small ding in the bottom of the door right where you get in, maybe the womans high heel shoe did it, I dont even know how one would get a ding inside the door panel, its too low for the seatbelt to have done it. Ill take some pics, I should be doing that today or tomoroww because I plan on painting the car either Friday or Saturday and need the jamb done first.
